Ride-Along Program

The Neenah Police Department Ride-Along Program is designed to help educate the community about what the police department does on a daily basis and to help residents become familiar with the officers and department.

Eligible Participants
  • Must be at least 16 years of age. Signature approval on liability waiver by parent/legal guardian if under the age of 18.
  • Must complete and submit a Ride-Along Application Form
  • Must complete and submit a Ride-Along Disclaimer Form
  • Must be willing to comply with the program expectations (outlined below)

 

Expectations
  • In order to comply with department policies and procedures, you MUST utilize the safety belts and safety equipment in the police vehicle.
  • Under no circumstance may you photograph, videotape or tape record any portion of the ride along.
  • DO NOT converse or interact with any subjects without the approval of the officer.
  • DO NOT touch any equipment in the vehicle unless given specific permission.
  • When requested, you must immediately get out of the squad (arrangements will be made by the officer to get you back to the station as soon as possible)
  • Should be dressed in attire that reflects the professional standards of the Neenah Police Department. If  dressed inappropriately, you will be asked to reschedule. Clothing that is not permitted is as follows:
    • Tops without sleeves or that reveal any midriff or cleavage
    • Shorts or skirts
    • Baseball hats
    • Gang associated attire
    • Blue jeans
  • Facial jewelry must be removed
  • Tattoos must be covered
  • The use of tobacco products is prohibited
  • Foul language is prohibited
  • Officers from other agencies are allowed to be armed during the ride along.
  • The Neenah Police Department observes the right to delay, postpone or cancel without prior notice

 

Confidentiality

The citizens of Neenah have a right to privacy. Any and all information pertaining to police records, police stops or other privileged material is to be kept strictly confidential. The release of criminal information to the public could conceivably be considered a felony.
